F.A.S.T Bump Helmet

First time see this helmet was at the shot show 2008, I thought it was protect helmet and they have moved up for the military market and build up the advance model. As I look into the details, I get to know this helmet was manufacture by OPS-CORE Inc. After few month later I decide to get one and test the helmet myself and also people gave me  high recommendations on this helmet but the price of this helmet was also highly re-considerable. It also has 2 different model of the FAST helmet, the Bump and Basaltic.

I was just thinking if I was the operator and without considering the price of this piece of helmet cause ” Uncle Sam” is paying for it. I will be definitely use this helmet during the fast rope or on a patrol op.

Compare to original pro-tec helmet, cause it is lighter and build by carbon fiber and stuff that you need to modfiy on the pro-tec, OPS has added 2 side rails and Velcro tape on the side, top, and back, the most cool thing about this helmet is that its got a very reliable and easy to secure ” CHIN STRAP”, you can fasten and loose the strap very quickly and even though you have the heavy NVG on your helmet  it wont effect the operator cause usually when the operator added their NVG, the helmet intend to drop lower so that they had to add the counter weight pouch in the back to balance it while using their NVG.

Now lets take a close look at the helmet.

It comes with the OPS-CORE NVG mount.

The 2 rails at both sides allows operator to add surefire lights, camera and other accessories.

Also added velcro tape for attaching identification patches or other accessories.

The FAST bump helmet also include very clear instruction step by step

“Padding and accessories”

“Instructions of setting up the pads when using peltor or sordin headset”

“Warranty of this helmet”

All I can is that this company really focus and they really pay

” Attention to details”

Got a few photos of the DEA operator using the ballistic model during their F.A.S.T operation.

Also got the  black one for demonstrations to the local “FROGS” for their VBSS ops here.

Waiting for more helmets and new version coming in.

I think that these plastic cost about 700 bucks and the ballistic one about 1000, but if my memory is good, I think that the ballistic one is only for military/police personel.. There´s a mistake, DEA FAST uses a ballistic one (photos above), not the one on the pictures around..anyway, check the OPS CORE site for more info…
